I write further to my treatment, specifically regarding my cataract lens replacement. 

I want to put on record how grateful I am. The treatment has truly transformed my vision, and I am seeing with great clarity after a rapid deterioration in my eyesight over the last 12 months. Most importantly, I should also mention that the procedure, a YAG laser Capsulotomy, was totally painless. 

In sharing my patient experiences, I should note that the only downside is looking in the mirror - I’ve become aware of many wrinkles and blemishes that suddenly appeared! Once again, very many thanks.

I have recently undergone cataract lens replacement surgery on both eyes and am amazed at the results. There’s no need for glasses anymore.

From my first in-house appointment regarding cataract lens replacement to the subsequent procedure under local anaesthetic at the Jersey General Hospital, and the aftercare that followed, Mr. Spiteri and his colleagues, both in his consulting rooms and in the Day Surgery Unit at the hospital, have been exemplary.

On the morning after the operation, ahead of my formal post-op scheduled appointment, I was sent an email outlining do's and don'ts, which I found most valuable.

If, like me, you have been diagnosed with cataracts, cataract lens replacement surgery often becomes inevitable. I was presented with three options for lenses: the basic lens, which would still require me to wear prescription glasses; the bifocal lens, which again meant I'd still need glasses for certain activities; or the trifocal/multifocal lens that promised a glasses-free experience! 

Mr. Spiteri carefully explained the options and confirmed that I was a suitable candidate for the multifocal lens, discussing potential issues like halo effects around headlights. Just a week after my second surgery, I found that my vision was excellent; colors appeared much brighter, and the sharpness and clarity were remarkable.

 I had been concerned about feeling unbalanced or dizzy while adjusting to my new lens, but aside from the initial blurriness post-surgery, I was quickly able to continue my regular activities. 

Headlights are no longer an issue, and I know that my neurological adaptation to the new lens improves over time. I’ve also freed myself from the frustration of searching for my glasses, sitting on them, or losing them altogether. 

The care I received from Mr. Spiteri and his team was exceptional, and they kept me well-informed throughout the process.
